Amy B. Mucha (The Magic)

Amy B. Mucha spent her childhood gobbling up books, dreaming up stories, and wandering the woods in search of magic and rocks. She comes by her rock cred honestly: To this day, one of her proudest moments was winning her school’s science fair with her rock collection at age thirteen! As an adult, she feels wildly lucky to have settled in “The Granite State” of New Hampshire, where she still spends her time gobbling up books, dreaming up stories, looking for rocks, and wandering the woods, only now she knows there’s magic in the world for sure.

Carl Quesnel (The Science)

Carl has always loved rocks, from his days as a small child collecting cool-looking stones around the woods and roadsides of Vermont, to the last dozen years seeking more sophisticated mineral specimens in the mines of New England and beyond. A pivotal visit to the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands in South Dakota opened his eyes in 2012 to the amazing minerals that anyone could find if they kept their eyes open and knew where to look. Since then, he eats and breathes rocks—well, not literally, since that wouldn’t be healthy—and has been obsessively devouring all he can learn about them. In the process, he has joined several mineral clubs, including the Boston Mineral Club, for which he has been elected to two terms as president and now serves as a member of the Board of Directors. In his free time, when he’s not thinking or writing about rocks, Carl operates the editorial services business Assurance Editorial.
