Amethyst
Prized for its gorgeous range of purple colors, this quartz variety has one of the longest lores of any mineral on Earth. The ancient Greeks believed it was created by gods and had a magical ability to prevent intoxication. The early Christian church made all their bishops wear amethyst rings as symbols of their elevated spirituality. In India it’s associated with the crown chakra, the highest energy center in our bodies, which is believed to connect us to higher realms. It was also considered sacred to the Buddha and is still used by Buddhists today in the form of meditation beads. Even Leonardo da Vinci believed in the mystical powers of amethyst, claiming it helped dissipate his evil thoughts. Suffice it to say that humans around the world have long recognized amethyst as a rock that connects us to spirit. If it’s showing up for you now, consider it a nudge to tune into your own spiritual source, whatever that may be: god, religion, the universe, nature, your highest self, or even just the better nature of humanity. What you call it doesn’t matter, as long as you heed the call to connect.
The Bottom Line
SPIRITUALITY
“Connect to your spiritual source.”
