Azurite
It’s difficult to talk about azurite without first mentioning its bolder, louder, better known sibling, malachite. They’re often found growing together, and can even be intertwined with each other in a single specimen. But, like many human siblings, they’re quite different at heart. Malachite is a show-off performer of eye-catching green, whereas azurite is the dark blue of shadows, deep waters, and quiet evening skies. Azurite is also a rather vulnerable, unstable mineral that bleaches in the sun and, strangely enough, with enough exposure to air will transform very slowly into its bolder sibling. It is, in other words, literally defined by its need to keep hidden and out of the spotlight. In this sense, think of azurite as the patron rock of retreat. If it’s coming up for you now, it’s a sign that you need to retreat right now into your own cave of quiet contemplation. Your moment in the sun may one day come, but in this moment it would be wiser to go inside and protect your peace.
The Bottom Line
RETREAT
“Pull back for some quiet contemplation.”
One Or More Of These Messages Are For You
-
- You need a retreat from the world, even if it’s only temporary.
- You’re too exposed at the moment; it’s time to draw back and protect yourself.
- Allow yourself to replenish in the peace of stillness, silence, darkness, and solitude.
- You may be someone who is overstimulated by light, noise, attention, and information. If that’s the case, respect your needs and adjust your environment accordingly.
- You’ll find the answers you seek through quiet contemplation.
- If you’ve been thinking about taking up meditation or going on a silent retreat, this may be your sign to do it.
- If you’re someone hoping to achieve fame and recognition, don’t worry and don’t give up: You may well still get both, it just might happen slowly, bit by bit, rather than in one big splashy moment.
