Calcite
Calcite may be one of the most common minerals on Earth, but that doesn’t make it boring. Found everywhere from oceans, lakes, and rivers to the highest mountaintops to down inside the deepest caves, it’s hard to predict just where calcite will pop up or what form it’ll take when it does. If that weren’t special enough, calcite is double refractive as well, meaning it can split light into two separate rays. You can test this for yourself by drawing a line on a piece of paper and placing translucent calcite on top of it. Like magic, you’ll see not one line but two. The message here seems clear: You’re never trapped on any one path in this world. If you don’t like where you’ve ended up, you have the power to choose something different.
