Chrysoprase

Here’s a mineral named after the Greek words for green apple and golden leek, that, not incidentally, is the exact shade of green we most associate with healthy, sprouting plant life. That’s fitting, because this lovely fresh color comes from nickel, an element known for its strength and resistance. Sadly, since chrysoprase is quite rare, most of what you’ll see sold in shops is faked and has no nickel content at all.
