Fluorite
Lots of rocks and minerals look bright and colorful by daylight. That’s easy. What’s really impressive is when a mineral glows colorfully in the dark. Though fluorite isn’t the only mineral that can “fluoresce” under ultraviolet light (also known as “black light”), it’s the rock the phenomena was named after. And this mineral is beloved for its radiant colors even without the glow, most popularly its translucent purples and greens. As if that weren’t enough, you can thank fluorine, an element that also took its name from this rock and is the source of the fluoride in your toothpaste, for making your smile radiant too. If fluorite is coming to you now, it’s because our world desperately needs more light, and you’re someone who can bring it. Never let anyone make you feel guilty for enjoying life and being happy. Guilt and dejection only add to the world’s darkness. The best thing you can do is shine with joy, optimism, and appreciation, and refuse to let anyone dim your light.
The Bottom Line
RADIANCE
“A light in the dark.”
