Halite

It’s almost certainly owing to its ability to preserve food, making everything we eat not just taste better but last longer. It’s helped generations of humans stay alive by allowing us to eat unspoiled food through long droughts, famines, and winters. Because of this magical-seeming ability to keep decay away, halite has long been credited with the ability to purify us spiritually as well.
