Do you know someone who can be tough and hard one moment, then a total softy the next? Or who always sees two sides to everything, or who toggles endlessly between two options, struggling to make up their mind? Then you might know someone a lot like kyanite. Though kyanite is popular in shops for its pretty blue columns, geologists know that it also has a special property of having varying levels of hardness. Its hardness can even vary on the same crystal face, depending on which direction it’s being cut. Interestingly, kyanite is also exceptionally good at holding its strength under extreme heat, making it useful to us in all kinds of ways, like insulating kilns and making very strong porcelain. It’s almost like being inconsistent isn’t always a bad thing. If this mineral is coming up for you now, the message is clear: If you’re dealing with inconsistency in someone else right now, or perhaps feeling of two minds yourself, make peace with it. It might be the very thing you need to make you strong.

The Bottom Line

DUALITY
“Accept contradictions in yourself and others.”

One Or More Of These Messages Are For You

    • Make peace with your inconsistent self.
    • It’s okay to change your mind!
    • You may be hard and unyielding in some situations and a total softy in others, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
    • Being flexible in your views, and willing to change and grow, is a sign of maturity.
    • Forgive someone you love for flipping their own opinion on a matter, even if it’s something important to you.
    • If you were asking about a particular person or situation, please know that they or it might be liable to change.
    • If you think you know every side to someone, you may be about to discover a new one.
    • If you’re certain you’ll never change how you feel about a certain issue, you may be in for a surprise.
