Sometimes we crave more sparkle in our lives, while other times it’s calm we long for most. Why not have both? Then you’ll be like lovely, lavender lepidolite. A member of the mica family, it’s similar to its sparkly sibling, muscovite. But, while rockhounds can walk over sheet after glittering sheet of muscovite with barely a glance, few can pass up a pretty patch of lepidolite. That’s not all there is to this eye-catcher, though: It’s second only to spodumene as a major source of lithium, which is used as a medicine to balance mood swings. It’s also our main source for rubidium, which is what makes the bright purple explosions in fireworks. It dazzles in all kinds of ways, in other words, all while bringing us the gifts of balance and peace. With all the uplift of joy but none of the loss of control, think of lepidolite as the ultimate rock of cheerful contentment. If it’s showing up for you now, consider it good luck: It’s here to let you know that you too can live a life of lasting, balanced joy.
