Some people think that if they want a life that feels extraordinary, they have to be extraordinary. They dream of fame, fortune, and wild success, sure that only by being quite special and rare will they be able to dazzle and shine. Well, here’s rock-hard evidence they’re wrong: Muscovite is the most common variety of mica, which is itself extremely common. It is, in other words, the exact opposite of special. Bits can be found from one end of the Earth to the other, in just about every type of rock. Think of it as the glitter of the rock world: Wherever you look, there it is. You really can’t avoid it. But why would you want to? Muscovite adds sparkle and shine to even the most boring scenes. And, as if that weren’t enough, it’s used to make literal glitter in everything from paints to powders to makeup. If you feel stuck in a dull, ordinary life in a dull, ordinary place, please heed muscovite’s message: You don’t need to be special to sparkle. You can shine with joy in any old place, any old time, right where you are right now.

The Bottom Line

SHINE WHERE YOU ARE
“Find sparkle and joy in everyday life.”

One Or More Of These Messages Are For You

    • You may be coming into a period of happiness and joy, without having to change a single thing.
    • You don’t need to go anywhere special or do anything extraordinary to live a beautiful, sparkling life.
    • At this time, you’re meant to stay and shine right where you are.
    • Look around and appreciate all the small moments that bring you joy in your everyday life.
    • If you’ve been feeling common and dull, bring a sense of fun and excitement to your day just by shaking things up and doing something in a totally different or unexpected way.
    • Wear an outfit that’s totally out of character, go dancing, start up a conversation with a stranger, share an unusual opinion, repaint something in a fun color, wear a weird hat, try out for an improv group, start a new group of your own—the options are endless.
    • If you don’t already have a group of fun friends, go find some!
