Rose Quartz
If the color pink symbolizes love, kindness, and affection, it’s no surprise that rose quartz, which is the pink variety of the quartz family, symbolizes the same. One of the most popular rocks sold today, its soft translucent hue has long made it a favorite of anyone who values a loving and open heart. No wonder it’s so often sold in the shape of a heart too. It’s also interesting to note that its color is delicate in more ways than one: Care must be taken to keep it out of direct sunlight, for ultraviolet light will fade the color from this rock more quickly than most others. If rose quartz is showing up in your life, consider it a gentle plea to treat other people in much the same way: with a great deal of kindness and care. Even if you believe they deserve it, don’t put them under the hot glare of your judgment or contempt. Outrage can feel powerful and righteous, but it’s rarely the right choice. If your heart has grown hard or closed of late, try softening and opening it with big doses of compassion, forgiveness, kindness, and love.
The Bottom Line
KINDNESS
“Aim for compassion, understanding, and love.”
One Or More Of These Messages Are For You
-
- Are you being as kind as you could be? Are you treating others the way you’d wish to be treated?
- What you give out is usually what you get back. If you’d like more acceptance and love, you may need to be more accepting and loving yourself.
- If you’ve been nursing resentment or indulging in outrage lately, try embracing forgiveness and compassion instead. Outrage feels powerful, but too much will drain your world of all that’s good.
- Challenge yourself to add more of what’s good to the world, instead of trying to eradicate what’s bad.
- Like the soft colors of rose quartz, love is soft, gentle, and sweet. If what you’re feeling is hard, harsh, or unyielding, that’s not kindness or love.
- Never confuse kindness with people pleasing or enabling, which are done out of fear and selfishness. Kindness can mean telling someone what they don’t want to hear.
- If you tend to be judgmental or harsh to yourself, stop it!
- And, for sure, if someone else is hurting you, that’s not love. In that case, the most loving thing you can do is leave.
