Serpentine
Plenty of rocks are toxic, or even downright dangerous, but nothing beats this one for sheer creepiness. It comes in mottled green colors that look a bit like snakeskin, and some varieties of serpentine are even slick or greasy to the touch, making them feel slippery as a snake as well. But the comparisons don’t stop there: This rock can even be snaky in its behavior. It tends to creep its way into rock beds and slowly absorb other minerals, gradually transforming them into different forms of itself. This allows serpentine to have many forms and be related to everything from talc, the softest mineral, to nephrite jade, one of the toughest. It can, in other words, slip in unseen and take the place over. If this weren’t enough, some serpentine truly is dangerous to humans, such as asbestos, a type of serpentine that causes cancer. If it’s showing up for you, you obviously need to be on your guard. Something might be creeping into your life right now, and serpentine is letting you know it can’t be trusted.
The Bottom Line
CREEP
“Someone cannot be trusted.”
